Small Satellite Market Goes from Strength to Strength

Welcome to Via Smallsat, our annual special edition focused on the small satellite market to go alongside the Small Satellite Conference in Utah. It also now features two of our most popular stories of the year — Rising Stars and 10 Smallsat Startups to watch.

This year, when we put out a call for Rising Stars in the industry, we received so many strong nominations. It’s hard to pick a class of just 25, because there is a huge amount of young talent in the industry. We thank every single nominee and nominator for taking the time to be a part of this. It is an honor to put this feature together and highlight the young talent on the rise.

Our 10 Smallsat Startups to Watch gives us an opportunity to highlight some of the amazing startups around the world. What is striking is that now, more than ever, this is a global industry. We see amazing new companies from around the world looking to make their mark in satellites and space.

This edition also features a close look at the space investment market by Ann Wainscott-Sargent, who spoke to a number of top investors about the current state of space investment. And Shaun Waterman digs into how smallsat operators tackle the task of managing their ground networks, and how that is changing.
