This is our third edition of Via Satellite Asia and once again we are delighted to be partnered with Media Partners Asia and their fantastic Asia Pacific Pay-TV Operators Summit in Bali, one of the highlights of the conference calendar in the region. The broadcast market in Asia is one of the most dynamic around, with countries like Japan and South Korea being some of the early adopters of Ultra-HD. In this edition, we talk to key decision makers from major pay-TV players such as PCCW, a great success story in Hong Kong; Cignal TV in the Philippines; Sky Perfect JSAT in Japan; and Zee Entertainment Enterprises in India. We get a fascinating snapshot of a number of different markets from varying perspectives. Whether you are a broadcast, IPTV or DTH/cable player, this is a market that is still rich in potential. We also have a great column from NSR, which gives the latest outlook on the Ultra-HD market in Asia, one of the most vibrant globally.

Speaking of rich in potential, the cellular backhaul market remains a great market for satellite. In a mobile data centric world, the need for satellite is only increasing, and we talk to a number of key end users about their needs for backhaul and how they will work with satellite players going forward. For example, we talk to SoftBank in Japan about their plans to use satellite in Japan. It is an illuminating interview and is a great example of how satellite can make a difference.

For those of you going to the Media Partners Asia event in Bali, we wish you a successful event. We hope you enjoy this special edition of Via Satellite and we look forward to hearing about the latest developments in this most dynamic of markets for satellite services. VS
