We are just weeks’ away from our CyberSatGov event in Reston, Virginia, and we have a great roster of speakers lined up to talk cybersecurity and satellites. The A-list roster includes Iranga Kahangama, assistant secretary for Cyber, Infrastructure, Risk, and Resilience for the Department of Homeland Security; Col. John P. Smail, senior cyber officer for the U.S. Space Force; Richard Dalbello, director of the Office of Space Commerce, and Jared Reece, program lead for the Space Systems Command, Space Force Commercial Satellite Communications Office (CSCO) among others. The show, Nov. 1-3, is going to be bigger and better than ever. With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, this conversation is more important than ever. We will look forward to seeing you there.

As we count down to CyberSatGov, the October edition of Via Satellite has a very strong security theme. Our cover story is an interview with Col. Jennifer Krolikowski, director of the Chief Information Office (CIO) for Space Systems Command. Krolikowski talks about how the U.S. government and the commercial satellite industry can work better together. We also have a feature look at the satellite landscape in a time of conflict and the impact Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is an ever increasing topic of conversation in our industry.

On a more light-hearted note, we also look at 10 things we learned at World Satellite Business Week in Paris. With so much talk of consolidation and mega-moves in the industry, it was a good time to be in Paris to talk about what the future might hold.

It has been a busy start to the fall season of events. The industry is getting back to seeing one another and there is a lot of business to be done. We hope you have had a good summer and look forward to seeing you all very soon.
