Aviation is Still a Hot Market for Satellite
June 27th, 2022Summer is truly here and most of us have been enjoying being back on the road and seeing our friends and colleagues within the community. There are some interesting talking points right now. Access Intelligence recently held the Connected Aviation Intelligence event in Reston, Virginia, and it is clear that the aviation market is still one that offers huge opportunities to satellite players.
The Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) featuring the likes of SpaceX, Telesat, and OneWeb bought up a number of discussion points. SpaceX is already beginning to make its presence felt with deals with the likes of Hawaiian Airlines and JetSuiteX. OneWeb also revealed it could announce its first airline partner in the next few months. Airlines have never had so much choice.
For this edition of Via Satellite, we look at one of the biggest issues facing our industry today, talent acquisition and retention. The demand for talented engineers in our industry has never been higher. Rachel Jewett looks at how satellite companies are competing for talent, and how they can survive and thrive amid such ferocious competition.
We also take a look at GEO 2.0 and the future of Geostationary Orbit in an environment with huge investments in LEO and Medium-Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites. The cover story focuses on another hot topic, space situational awareness (SSA), as more and more satellites go up, and more debris produced. It is again one of the biggest topics in our industry.
