Paris Olympics is a Shining Moment for Satellite Broadcast

I am sure many of us have been enjoying the Olympics over the summer and it is a marvel of engineering that satellite has consistently been the technology that enables so many people around the world to enjoy this event. The Olympics has a rich history of using satellite. Many of us can think of outstanding Olympic moments that are etched in our memory. It is a reminder of satellite’s glorious past and this event is and has long been interlinked with satellite.

As we head into September, it is a little bit early to be handing out the medals for the year, we are set for an exciting conclusion to the year, like some of the races we saw recently in Paris.

We have a number of great features for you in this edition. Tereza Pultarova writes about the startup scene in Europe and how things are progressing. While Europe remains a hive of activity, it can often not be easy for startups to navigate the complex environment of multiple countries. Shaun Waterman writes on one of the most talked about topics in our industry right now — the future of GEO in a world that is going increasingly LEO and multi-orbit. It is a topic that will no doubt be a hot topic for the months and years ahead.

Speaking of hot topic, AI is another one on everyone’s minds. Anne Wainscott-Sargent writes the future of AI and the impact it might have on the satellite industry. And finally, I interviewed four airlines on their connectivity strategies. A gold medal edition if ever there was one, right?

It is rather ironic in the year that the Olympics was in Paris, that we will be there in September for World Satellite Business Week (WSBW) to talk about the future of satellite, how companies are winning their own races for customers, and how also the baton is being passed to a new generation.
