Welcome to our March edition, or as we christen it, our SATELLITE edition, the biggest issue of the year. I see it as a celebration of all that is good in our industry. This edition features some of our most popular and discussed articles.

It is remarkable in many ways how this edition has expanded in recent years. Yet again, we reveal our 10 Hottest Companies in Satellite, which is sure to get people talking. This feature has generated huge interest across the industry since it launched five years ago. With so many great companies, it is always hard to pick just 10. But we have some interesting choices this year. This story will be likely our most read of the year, and we know it is one our community loves.

Last year, we introduced a new feature, Celebrating Women in Satellite. Senior Managing Editor Rachel Jewett has been collecting stories and testimonials about inspiring women in our industry. We all know, like a number of industries, the satellite industry has been male-dominated industry in the past. However, things are changing, and there are so many inspiring women in this industry. We had so many people want to get involved in this feature that we are going to run a part two in April.

If that wasn’t enough, there is the small matter of announcing the nominees for our Satellite Executive of the Year (SEOTY) and Satellite Technology of the Year (STOTY) awards, two of the most prestigious awards in our industry. Announcing the winners at SATELLITE will be one of the highlights of the event, and they are sure to be keenly contested.

It wasn’t that long ago, where the March edition was all about SEOTY. Now, we have STOTY, 10 Hottest Companies in Satellite and Celebrating Women in Satellite. The edition has expanded beyond recognition in recent years, and is the perfect appetizer before SATELLITE. Speaking of which, the editorial team of Via Satellite, we are once again looking forward to see you all again in Washington very soon, for four days of lively discussion and debate as we go further into this pivotal decade for the industry. See you soon.
