Via Smallsat Returns, Highlighting More Great Startups
July 24th, 2023Welcome to our second Via Smallsat, an edition we do once a year to look at developments in the vibrant small satellite market. The centerpiece of this edition is our 10 Smallsat Startups to Watch, which was hugely popular when we launched it last year. There are great early-stage, space-based startups from all over the world. One of the challenges with a story like this is actually narrowing it down to 10. But, we think we have put the spotlight on some amazing companies that you should definitely keep an eye on in the future.
One of the themes of this edition is capitalizing on the energy and passion that young people have for space. We have a feature talking to a number of young people in the industry about how they view the industry, and perhaps more importantly, how they would like to see things change. Even though the industry has improved in recent years in bringing more young talent on board, there is still some way to go. It is fascinating to hear what young people think and listen to their idealism and passion for our industry. It really is infectious, and as we go forward into uncertain times, particularly with climate change, we will rely more than ever on young people to come up with ideas using space technology to help make the planet more sustainable.
One of the goals of Via Satellite is to become a more community-based publication. By doing stories like 10 Smallsat Startups to Watch, 10 Hottest Companies in Satellite, and Celebrating Women in Satellite, we aim to shine a light across the community. We will also expand these efforts into 2024. We appreciate the role and platform we have, and we are determined to use it for a force for good in our industry. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
