In our last edition of Via Satellite, we announced our eagerly awaited 10 Hottest Companies in Satellite, which is already causing quite a stir and generating good conversation. Thousands of readers have engaged with the article, and we hope you enjoy our efforts. We are also sharing Thursday Morning Conversations over the next month as Rachel Jewett and I will be talking to leaders of each of the 10 companies.

We have some great content for you in this edition. We start by talking to Facebook’s vice president of Connectivity, Dan Rabinovitsj, about Facebook’s evolving relationship with the satellite industry. Facebook, as we know, is all about the connecting the world, and it is fascinating to hear it could potentially work with the satellite industry on future initiatives.

Climate change is an issue that impacts all of us. Temperatures are going up, and there are more examples of extreme weather that are impacting communities all across the globe. Freelancer Marisa Torrieri takes a look at this issue and how satellite tech could make a huge difference here.

Former Via Satellite editor Jason Bates covers the changing dynamics of the launch market. The launch feature in this edition breaks down the new rockets set for launch over the next year from legacy launch companies and startups.

So, a great edition for you to look forward as we hit the summer months. We continue to wish everybody well as we continue to fight this pandemic and edge toward a more normal life over the rest of this year and into next year.

We are only weeks away from SATELLITE and it will be exciting to see people in-person to talk about the issues of the day in our industry. It has been a long 18 months since the last SATELLITE event, and many things have changed. But what hasn’t changed is the importance of this industry in connecting people at a time when it is needed the most. We will hopefully see you soon.
